Common Failure Modes for Color Change Films
What are common failure modes for color change films?
- Gloss loss when stretched
- Delamination in over stretched areas
- Edge lift/tenting/bottle capping in over stretched areas
- Mottling and haze
- Adhesive lines
- Film rotting on the vehicle (common with a lot of matte metallic avery dennison)
- Squeegee lines appearing in the adhesive layer of gloss after applied from the corners of the squeegee (3M 1080 gloss orange was notorious for showing drag lines of the corners in the adhesive at normal 70-82 F installation. Only at 65 F would a squeegee, any squeegee, not leave the corner drag line impressions in the adhesive)
