Fire Resistant vs. Fire Retardant

There is a significant difference between fire resistant and fire retardant. All Arlon films are fire resistant. Arlon films are NOT fire retardant.

Fire Resistant:
Flame resistant materials, while they can catch fire if exposed directly to a flame, are not likely to catch fire just from being near the fire. Also, should a fire-resistant material catch fire, the fire will have a hard time staying lit. Many of these materials will choke the fire, causing it to extinguish.

Arlon films have been tested against various fire testing standards(eg: ASTM E84, BS EN 13823, etc.) for fire resistance. These documents can be found on Salesforce "Files" > "Technical Documents"

Fire Retardant:
Fire retardant materials are chemically treated to be slow burning or self-extinguishing when exposed to an open flame. These materials can be made from any material, but they must be treated with special chemicals to qualify as flame retardant.

Arlon films are NOT fire retardant and have not been tested or designed to be fire retardant.
