If an Arlon custom profile is not available, which generic profile(s) can I use?
Arlon’s media profile is up to date with the major printer manufacturers and their latest models. However, there are still some printer and RIP combinations that we don’t yet support in our profiles, such as certain legacy printer models running on Arlon’s newer media.
In this case, you can use the generic profiles included with your RIP software or those from the printer manufacturer’s profile library.
In general, generic profiles perform well within the same vinyl category. For example, the Roland PCV4 (Premium Cast Vinyl 4) profile prints reliably when used with Arlon 2-mil cast vinyl products.
Below is a comparison of generic profile categories versus corresponding Arlon media categories in Roland VersaWorks:
Roland VersaWorks Generic Profiles → Arlon Media
-
PCV4 (Premium Cast Vinyl) → Omni Cast Wrap, SLX+, DPF 6100, etc.
-
GCVP (Glossy Calendered Vinyl) → DPF 4600GLX, Fusion Wrap, DPF 4500 Series, etc.
-
MCVP (Matte Calendered Vinyl) → DPF 4600MLX, DPF 8000, DPF 4500 Series, etc.
Mimaki Rasterlink Generic Profiles → Arlon Media
- Mimaki GPVC → Omni Cast Wrap, SLX+, DPF 6100, etc.
- Mimaki MPVC → DPF 4600MLX, DPF 8000, DPF 4500 Series, DPF 510M Series, etc.

HP Latex Generic Profiles → Arlon Media
- HP Everyday Satin Canvas → DPF 4200 Series
- HP Everyday Gloss CP Monomeric → DPF 510 Series

For the remaining printer manufacturer profile libraries and RIP software profile libraries, we can apply the same logic by searching for the Arlon product.
