Latex Ink Profile 101 by big Mark of GSG

This article addresses 3 key variables in Latex Ink technology that will impact print quality. 1. Speed 2. Heat setting 3. Ink Density

Problem the 3 variables will address:
  1. Media Melting
  2. Head Stikes
  3. media buckling
  4. ink smearing
  5. Oily patches
Solutions:
  1. If Speed is the main concern, reduce the number of passes. Figure A2. Lower # pass, prints faster. Decide on ink saturation required for the job. See figure A4 for sellable quality. Last step is determine temperature set point to dry the ink.
  2. If the problem is buckling, that means media is tetting too much heat. Cast product can take more heat than Calendered media. If the ink is not curing at a given temperature. Once can increase temp so media doesn't buckle and make sure the ink cures at that temp by increasing the number of passes (slower print). There's an advance setting called "inter-pass delay offset" to allow more ink cure time
