Is it typical to observe tenting on rivets?

Understand how film type and rivet design affect expected tenting around fasteners.

Yes, but the amount of tenting depends whether the film is cast or calendered. The expected amount of tenting around rivets will also depend on the type of rivet head or fastener. One of the common rivet head type is a 1/2-inch diameter solid buck rivet.

For trailer "screws", it is not recommended to stretch the film over the screw heads. The best practice is to remove the screws, apply the graphic, and re-install the screws.

CAUTION: Do not remove an entire row of screws.

For 1/2-inch buck rivets, due to vibration and corrosion between the flat substrate and the fastener, the typical amount of tenting around the rivet could be up to 1/8-inch wide.
