What is UL 410?

UL 410 is a safety standard that evaluates the slip resistance of floor surface materials, including floor graphic laminates and protective films.

UL 410 is published by UL Solutions (formerly Underwriters Laboratories). This standard establishes testing methods to determine the slip resistance of walking surfaces. Products that meet the criteria may be UL Classified for slip resistance.

What Does UL 410 Test?

UL 410 measures the coefficient of friction (COF) of a surface under specified conditions to evaluate traction performance. It applies to:

  • Floor graphic overlaminates

  • Anti-slip films and tapes

  • Floor coatings and finishes

  • Mats and other applied walking surfaces

Results determine whether a surface qualifies as:

  • Slip-resistant

  • Non-slip

Why UL 410 Matters for Floor Graphics?

For printed floor graphics and protective overlaminates, UL 410 classification helps:

  • Reduce slip-and-fall risk

  • Meet facility safety requirements

  • Support commercial and retail compliance standards

  • Provide documented third-party safety validation
